J. I. Packer on the place of the Gospel in our culture

Packer:

Our business is to present the Christian faith clothed in modern terms, not to propagate modern thought clothed in Christian terms.

Our business is to interpret and criticize modern thought by the gospel, not vice versa.

Confusion here is fatal.

Planting theology...

I'm reading through the Letters of C.S. Lewis right now.  It has been a very rewarding read.  So many nuggets of thoughts buried in his letters.  Lewis wrote this,   
 So I lived a week...in one of those delightful vernal periods when doctrines which have hitherto been only buried seeds begin actually to come up - like snowdrops or crocuses.
and I felt a kinship.
